I believe that energy speaks much louder than words. If you’re just saying you’re happy with words, but your energy and body language doesn’t reflect that, it’s quite obvious. This is why I love Coachella so much. So many different types of people, music, food, styles, yet, almost everyone you encounter, has great energy! I love dancing to the music like I’m alone in my room and sitting on the grass looking at all the happy faces pass by. Coachella definitely is my happy place!

Coachella Diary 2016

Feathers in my hair and stars in my eyes, Coachella had me “feeling some type of way”. The three day concert has come and gone but the memories I made will last a lifetime, or at least till next year!

Beachin All Year Round

Summer might be officially over, but it never ends here in LA. Therefore, we must constantly be working on that “beach body”. Here are some tips and tricks below for a flat tummy any time of year! :)

  • Start the day off with a warm water and lemon to cleanse the body and reduce bloating.

  • Avoid high sodium foods before heading to the beach (or before putting on that crop top!!).

  • If you can’t make it to the gym or a class, break out your mat at home and do some ab work!

Some of my favorites:

Criss Cross: Starting in a chest lift position with legs at table top, take opposite elbow to opposite knee feeling a crunch into the oblique (side abs)!

Single Leg Stretch: Stay lifted in a chest lift and grab onto one shin extending the other leg out long, 2 pulses and switch legs! Feel that burn!!

Teaser: Extend both legs out at 60 degrees, lift your head neck and chest and roll up

Newport Getaway

Living in LA is much like being on a permanent vacation as far as weather and scenery go. However, sometimes the mind and body crave to switch things up! And the beautiful west coast provides many cute beach towns to do just that. Only an hour and a half away from Los Angeles, Newport Beach is really a breath of fresh air when you’re in need of a getaway! While I was there, I spent one day lounging by the pool at our hotel (felt amazing) and the other exploring the many beaches Newport has to offer.

Newport has really awesome beaches with amazing views and rocky shorelines that are perfect for being adventurous. Kinda scary, but worth the effort of climbing up these rocks. My feet didn’t love this part!

F*ck Yeah Fest recently came and went, taking place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, August 22, and 23rd. It was an amazing weekend filled with good vibes and sounds to match. The two day festival had an impressive line up including Morriessy, Purity Ring, FKA Twigs, Bloc Party, Kanye West, Flume, Flying Lotus, The Drums and many more! FYF has certainly stepped their game up since the last time I went two years ago. For LA natives, this really was the best weekend of the summer!

Hanging out in Williamsburg all day can be very inspiring and offbeat for the typical NYC visit. However, if you need constant doses of kale, and cayenne-ginger shots commencing bright and early in the morning, look no further than Williamsburg to satisfy those needs. And it is where I ended up.

Hello Kitty Isn’t a Cat

It is a Kawaii confusion: Hello Kitty is not a feline! (Meow!) So what exactly is the famous Japanese export? As I learned from visiting the Hello Kitty exhibit Sunday, in Downtown Los Angeles, at the Japanese American National Museum, she is many things, but not a cat! Hello Kitty, whose full name is Kitty White is a little girl, a friend, an icon, and superstar (not a cat). And she has never been depicted on all fours, instead, always as a two-legged creature. The ambassador of happiness, who represents all things cute, promises big smiles to those who receive her as a gift. And since 1974 she has been living up to her brand promise of spreading happiness, for those who receive the small gift are sure have a big smiles. Pretty straightforward, but don’t forget that she is not a cat!

Here I am in New York, at the Brooklyn Bridge a couple months back. I love the restless energy of the city, it is a nice contrast for an LA native like me!. Sleep seems like a foreign concept when you are in a city that never sleeps and is thriving with energy, people, and excitement day and night. x

Baby Got Back

The back extension is a very important element of pilates and our everyday lives. Doing back work can give you better abdominal engagement (flat tummy), a more youthful appearance (good posture), and psychologically make you feel happier and more confident! So just how can you implement back extension in your fitness routine?

Here is a great exercise you can do at home for a beautiful back and flatter stomach:

Swimming:

Lie on your stomach with your forehead down, the pubic bone anchored to the mat, and the inner thighs pressed tightly together. Your arms are stretched forward with the palms down, and your feet are pointed. Lift your arms, legs, chest, and head up on one count and hold (A). Inhale and exhale normally as you alternate lifting right arm/left leg (B) and left arm/right leg © without touching them down to the mat. Count slowly from 1 to 10 as you swim, lifting
